Google Offer Now In Tucson?
As most of you already know Google tried to by Groupon but they where turned down. So they started their own coupon service Offers. They have been rolling out this service slowly across the country. The last time I checked it was being offered in 50 cities. Of course, it was being offered in Phoenix, but not in Tucson. Then when I went to log into Gmail I saw this today.
I though wow Google is now available in Tucson. Still will be worth getting out as a blog post right now! So I clicked on the subscribe button. This produced a pop up box that wanted my country and area code.
I entered this info and then clicked on the continue button and another box appeared.
Yep, Google was just teasing. It’s Offers service isn’t actually available in Tucson. Looks like a bit of bait and switch marketing going on here by Google. I don’t know about you but I don’t much like being told something is available only to find out that it isn’t. Is this just another example of Google saying one thing and doing another?

I Dont Twitter I Wont Twitter V 2.0
May 18, 2011
Welcome to the Google Places SEO Citations blog at Tucson SEO Solutions.
This blog covers local SEO which is dominated by Google, Google Places and the need for citations. The blog also covers just about any thing related to Google search results and related topics. I hope that you might glean some useful resources while you are here.
I Don’t Twitter I Wont Twitter V 2.0
Back in May of 2008 I wrote the first version of I Don’t Twitter I Won’t Twitter.
I did not have a complete understanding of Twitter at that time. So I am glad that the blog was new and that I didn’t have any traffic. I had compared Twitter to texting. This wasn’t to far off, but I had never used the service and I was just guessing. I wanted new content and I failed to do proper research.
I have since gotten on and off the twitter bandwagon. I still have an account but I may not have used t this year. I still get announcements that new people are following me which I find funny since I rarely post to Twitter. If I want to reach people that I actually know I will use FaceBook. I only accept friends requests from those that I actually know.
I used to follow Andy Bailey the creator of the Comment Luv plugin. But I got bored getting his updates about his residential moving experiences and his personal life. I used to follow other known and not so known SEO’ers. But I stopped that as well. They were all just providing links to useless information. And I certainly do not care what you had for lunch. This position makes me an outcast in the SEO community and that’s OK with me.
I did a 3 month trial to see if I could benefit from Twitter. I would list daily blog post links. Then I checked Google Analytics. I discovered that Twitter traffic bounced 100% of the time. I also never had anyone leave a comment that said they saw me on twitter. So for me the ROI was just not there.
However, I wrote an article sometime ago about Dell using Twitter. Over a three year period Dell posted coupons on Twitter and they claimed to have made 3 Million in sales this way. So I discovered if your business uses coupons or offers changing entertainment it is wise to use Twitter. It seems to work very well for night clubs. Outside of a few industries I really think Twitter is a waste of time.
However, as you may have noticed it can be a great tool for social change as we have witnessed in Iran. I think the news updates on cable that use Twitter updates are mostly amusing. Without following CNN on Twitter I have no way of knowing how representative these updates really are. Some one makes the decision on what they air. Thus these Twitter updates on news programs may only reflect the producers bias and I not going to jump on Twitter to verify it myself.
Since Twitter offers almost no SEO value except for the profile links it is useless for me.
Update 05/15/2011: I now have three Twitter accounts that are mostly on auto pilot. Each one gets updates from about 100 blogs. I am currently using Just Unfollow to manage my followers and those who unfollow. I have a list of about 70 SEO’ers that I check in on now and again for SEO related updates.
This all works very well for me and saves me huge amounts of time.
If you have found a way to make money on Twitter I surely would like to hear about it.

Small Business SEO Solutions

Welcome to the Google Places SEO Citations blog at Tucson SEO Solutions.

Small Business SEO Solutions
This was originally posted back in late 2009.
Tucson SEO Solutions offer affordable small business search engine optimization services and solutions nationwide and in Canada. We are marketing entrepreneurs at heart and understand the unique challenges that face all small business owners in the local environment.
While you may know a thing or two about marketing you likely have not had the time or you may simply lack the inclination to learn internet marketing and specifically website optimization. However, you clearly understand that your website it a major part of your marketing plan and it isn’t working or you would not be reading this.
What you need to understand is that the process of website optimization is never going to be a one and done situation. A well optimized website will gain you higher search engine ranking that correlates to increased website traffic.
That’s the easy part from our perspective. It is maintaining those gains achieved through optimization is the more difficult part of the equation. It simply requires time to implement and maintain. The search engines change their algorithms over time as does your competition. You have to stay on top of all of this to succeed. A good example of this is Microsoft’s Bing search engine and Google’s Caffeine search engine. (And now Places Search with a dash of Panda update included.)
Maintaining a high search engine ranking requires frequent website updates and a sustained link building program. I would recommend you walk away from any company that tells you otherwise. Quite frankly, if you are not willing to do what it takes to be successful, if you are only looking to put in a minimal amount of effort, then you have come to the wrong website.
We don’t sugar coat anything. We would rather you go to another vendor, if you are not truly motivated to succeed. We take a team approach to creating a winning website.
However, if you are highly motivated you will benefit greatly from our solutions. Your will also benefit from our whole website approach for the small business website that we call Holistic SEO. Not only will we provide your website with improved targeted website traffic, we will show you what needs to be done to turn a broken website into a champion.
One sure way to tell if your website is broken is this. Does your website ask for the sale on every page? If the answer is no, then you have a problem that SEO alone can not solve.
Our local small business services and solutions work best if you have a geographic specific customer base or if you have a niche product or service. The process begins with a detailed website review where we clearly define what needs to be addressed to make your website user friendly. We are website marketing experts and we can assist you on how to create a selling environment on your website.

This Is The Sites Second Birthday And The Blogs First
August 21, 2009
Its is amazing that we have come this far. For the first year of existence we had a static website. I had one page that I used for daily updates, but other than that it was basically a static site. It was hosted through Microsoft. Actually the site never cost me a penny for the first year.
The site was created through Microsoft’s Office Live website. The domain name, the web hosting, and the site building tool were all free for the first year. I was able to create a basic website that was easy to optimize. Although you could not directly manipulate the HTML it did allow you to manage Page Titles, Page Descriptions, and keywords. The site was generic but good enough not to look like a DIY project.
However, it was not attractive enough to draw much attention or links. I did manage to build around a 1,000 links that first year. We were able to become a leader in the Google SERP’s for Tucson SEO and we usually ranked about # 3 for Tucson Search Engine Optimization. However, we struggled to get traction for the other keywords that we targeted. We were never able to get higher than # 33 for the much coveted search “local SEO.”
Then at the beginning of year two we transitioned over to the Content Management System, WordPress. Now, we could really crank up our marketing efforts and provide something worth linking too. Over the blogs first year we added about and additional 12,000 links. However, we now only have about 10,000 back links. We lost about 3,000 links from most of the forums that we had used most frequently. These forums became something else, closed, or drastically altered their signature policy.
The biggest transition is that we have transitioned from a regional SEO player to a national player. We have always ranked extremely well for the following searches Tucson SEO, Tucson Search Engine Optimization, and Internet Marketing Tucson. We currently rank both #1 and #2 for all of these.
Today I checked these keyword phrases in Google and this is what I discovered.
Local SEO #6
Local SEO Services #1 and #2
Local SEO Solutions #1 and #2
SEO Solutions #3 and #4
Business SEO Solutions #2 and #3
Small Business SEO Solutions #1 and #2
Geo-targeted SEO #2 and #3
Geo-targeting SEO #4 and #5
Niche SEO #4
Niche SEO Services #2 and #3
Niche SEO Solutions #1 and #2
Holistic SEO #8
Arizona SEO Solutions # 2 and #3
Now, some of the mentioned searches are not very competitive and we like it that way, but they do represent various ways of expressing the services that we offer. Most importantly they produce search traffic.
These ones we are no longer promoting these following keyword phrases but spam comments are keeping these alive. I post the comments and then respond to them. They mostly thank me for lists that no longer exist and I point this out. This produces enough fresh content to keep these pages ranking well. I laugh every time someone thanks me for the list that is no longer there.
Do Follow Blog Lists #1 out of 110 Million results
Do Follow Blogs #4 out of 141 Million results
Do Follow Forums # 1 out of 137 Million results
Over the past year our website traffic has also increased 700 % from year one to year two. That really might be the most amazing statistic of them all. The blog has generated only three negative mentions that I am aware of. We use Google Alerts to monitor this so it is unlikely that we missed the negative posts. That is fairly amazing. Success usually brings out a certain amount of detractors from around the blogosphere.
The number of comments that actually got posted was 1286. I likely deleted 6 times as many. When I started out it was a while before anyone noticed. It wasn’t until the Do Follow List made the first page of Google did we start getting comments. So I am very pleased with a little more than three comments a day.
I am usually a goal oriented person but I didn’t have any written down for the WordPress area. I did have a silent goal to take to take the Do Follow List to the first page of the Google results. I quietly hoped to take 12 other keyword phrases would land onto the first page. That turned out to be a huge challenge. Targeting a link building program around so many keywords is very challenging.
That task was made easier by the fact that my life partner, Geri became an active business partner after I scored a sweet one year management contract. She became the official link builder for our clients and I built links and wrote the blog posts. She also keep the lists current which was on easy task.
The year concluded with a total of 275 posts. This is a monumental feat for me. I am not the best writer in the world but things did improve overtime. I did experience fatigue around the time of the national elections. Lately, the business has picked up which makes blogging more difficult.
This year will be all about establishing goals. I did have one goal from last year that ended up to be unrealistic. I wanted to launch a new website every 6 weeks. The goal was to have a SEO site in the top 100 markets in 5 years. We did launch 5 city specific sites that all rank #1 but generate few leads and no business. Did I say that I am a dreamer.
Now, my goals are a bit more realistic for the coming year. I hope to sell our cleaning services website and our Mountain View SEO site. I plan on launching a local social media site, an SEO site that targets the city of Phoenix. I will eventually complete our Holistic SEO site. I would also like to increase our billable services. Well, that’s our story and I’m sticking to it!
How does your site rank?
We at Tucson SEO Solutions are officially requesting that you join the conversation here. That is, if you found that this post was at all interesting, useful, or perhaps you are just looking for a useful link. Then, I would like to entice you to comment by providing you with useful backlinks as part of what I call “Scratch My Back Marketing.”
We are now using the Scratch My Back Marketing plugin. This anti spam plugin simply requires that your comment be at least 150 characters in length or it is automatically rejected. It’s that simple. We are now forcing commenters to do what we were requesting for months on this blog that you leave a good comment! The blog also uses Keyword and Comment Luv. Please note that if you only include keyword your comment may be used put you will not obtain a link!
The Scratch My Back Marketing requires you to scratch this blog by leaving a useful comment. We then will provide you with an anchor text Do Follow Link. It’s all about win/win marketing. I am willing to exchange page rank for the bump that a fresh comment provides.
Are you ready to exchange good comments for links?
