Do follow websites has its advantages but also really attract a lot of spam comments. Comments like “Nice Post” , “Great post, Thanks” or “Nice blog” can really be annoying. Another problem would be bot spams. Some sites solve this by having Captcha plug-in to detect & kill these type of spams.

Thankfully, there are still some means for the little guy to do a little promotion. Researching high ranking sites on google search, I find paid blog inclusion, either article links or blogroll entries being the most common.
The most common free back-links these successful sites seemed to have were from ezinearticle type article submissions. So polish up your writing skills and you might get ahead.

Great advise and the list is very handy. Social networking and bookmarking sites do work pretty well, if you use them properly. The idea is to use them constructively and not spam each one, for most people it becomes a lot of work to manage a lot of accounts.

Nie read and dont get my wrong, putting that information out there is going to be useful to more people but not enough to put people off. Most of the people who employ drive by comment spam or any kind of link spamming never see the pages that the comments hit. There are apps out there that just carpet bomb the web with links. Your policy will stop them sticking to yout site but when they drop 10,000 per day though different proxies they only really expect 1-2% to stick

Admin: I don’t link to one article sites, especially a poorly written article about link building. A good link builder doesn’t visit a site and comment on 5 posts per visit. You might want to learn about link building before you write about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
