It is very indeed very important to follow commenting. It not only helps you gather information but a lot of other users get benefited reading your comments. It is a mutual advantage.

This great advice. the problem is that too few writers do appreciate the info that their readers are trying to gather when visiting thier site. They need to understand to offer enough value in their words and to make it easy to understand. but at the same time not too lengthy.

Showing your readers that you value them can be done in many ways.

* Write well and publish regularly. Keeping your blog updated with fresh and informative content will maintain reader interest.
* Reply to every comment.
* Comment, comment, comment and comment.
* Link to your reader’s related blogs and keep your blogroll updated.
* Be aware of your subscribers and subscribe to the feeds on their blogs.

I always give impotance to my readers. This is because when I started the blog, for nearly 6 months I don’t receive any comment. Although, I do frequent post but never able to get one comment also. When I change the blog to dofollow, I can see some incoming comments. So, I always make sure to reply all comments.

I totally agree with you blog owner or author doesn’t participate in his own discussion. I have bad experience to not getting my answer from these discussion that’s why i am not posting as much comments then we post earlier.

I think that personally replying to each of the comments is the single most important strategy for getting large number of good comments and repeat visitors.
But I also think that all commentors should be rewarded with a link to their website since they are giving their time to read and comment on your blog and you should definitely give something to them in return of the favour(and not be selfish).

How do you actually manage the time? I would imagine you get a LOT of blog comments so how long do you find you need to trawl through them all?

It gets even worse when you’ve got more than one blog – I’ve got a few and I just don’t have time to even post. Nevermind respond to comments.

Admin: Did you forget that a blog is a conversation? I don’t reply to every post comment just most of them. I don’t reply to repeat commenters unless the comment is exceptional.

I actually just commented on another post as a warning for spam and not I saw this post, apparently you’ve got it covered! :) I may re-think things eventually and take some of your suggestions but I’m not going to go back to follows on my blog for the time being.

I definitely understand where you are coming from Dan. It can be difficult to keep up with the comments. i feel the same way about email!!! It can be time consuming.... I try to reply to at least one a day, if I get any new ones. Usually once I get started i will end up responding to more comments but getting started is the hard part for me. nice blog too ... I hate to admit it I sometimes don't have the best track record respond to blog comments which I know is a bad thing but sometimes it is just a time constrained. As I’ve encountered lots of blogs that uses KeywordLuv plug ins, I have noticed that it’s really effective. It’s nice to see that more people going vintage and removing no follow. I particularly think that keywordLuv is the best way to reward people, as I think that it is the least susceptible way to abuse. This is a great way to provide value to blogs and encourage participation for site owners and the commenters alike.

Great article. I operate a few blogs and it seems very hard to get people to comment. I get visitors but most don’t bother to leave a comment. I must agree that responding to the comments left on your site does help return visitors. I do respond to comments left on my site …,i just need more…. will continue to work and refer to your blog, as i have found it to be a wonderful resource.

I totally agree about useful blogs lacking comments so making them Do Follow is the most to reward your readers for their contributions.
