I appreciate the information. I had never been interested in writing anything for Google Knol, but now my interest is piqued.

I see that scheduled maintenance is being done on August 20th. Probably to turn knol into a nofollow site.

I just found your site btw, and subscribed to your feed.

Google hypocritical? Surely you jest? :D

Honestly I'm not at all surprised that Google plays by a completely different set of rules when it is involved. I'm a bit strapped for time at the moment, but the first chance I get I will be looking into knol.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the comment. You are correct. I just thought it was an interesting observation. Something like this occurred a while back with a paid service Google provides.

You had to pay something like 2,000 bucks and you got a do follow link until lots of people raised a fuss. It made it appear that Google was selling links. That got changed real quick.

I found it worthy of writing about. I thought it might bring in some extra traffic but it has been mostly ignored... Oh well.
