Is There Such A Thing As A Perfect Link ?
That seems like a reasonable question to ask. After all there has been so much conflicting information written about links. We figured that since our audience comes here for small business SEO solutions they could use some clarification on the subject.
The perfect link from our perspective is:
A perfect link would be from a site with high Page Rank. The problem here is that many of our readers don’t understand PR. So here’s the skinny on PR. It is a grade that Google places on websites that correlates to trust. The scale goes from n/a through 10, with 10 being the highest score. You can find out the PR of any website if you are using a Google toolbar with Page Rank enabled.
That’s the simple answer for PR. So let’s look at a few other aspects of the perfect link.
The perfect link should offer some benefit to the person that is actually clicking on that link. So it is a good idea that the link should be industry specific or related to your website in some way. A good example of this is a doctor in Tucson linking to a doctor in Chicago. It should also include the targeted keyword phrase related to the site that it is pointed to in the anchor. In this case you might want to link to a page about flu prevention. That link then might read “flu prevention methods.”
That links should be “Do Follow” thus it will pass link juice. You control this on your website, but you can not control it on another website. If the link is what as know as “No follow” it will have no impact on search rankings but may generate traffic to your website.
The perfect link has to be “Do Follow,”and It certainly would be nice if that link came from a high PR page and with anchor text that matched the pages content. Finally, it should be in a related business field.
What’s your perfect link?
What say you?

I think you need to worry about building up a ton of quality links to your site that are relevant to your site. This will get your father then searching for the perfect link.
Admin: Great comment but I think you missed the point here.
The link needs to be relevant for your site and have a good PR. I think you will get the most value out of the search engines this way.
Admin: John, have you ever acquired a high PR link without paying for it?
I think that if you are shooting for high PR on your site, you will need relevant, high PR sites giving a DoFollow link back to you. And, if your link is not on the homepage, it’s not the main site that needs the high PR, but the page on which your link appears must have the high PR.
If you are just looking for SERP’s, which are more important than the PR, then most relevant, DoFollow links will count towards moving you up in the ranking for particular keywords. While high PR is nice, it is not necessary.
And overall, quality is better than quantity. Getting 10 relevant, dofollow, high PR links is better than 50 nofollow, bad neighborhood links. Especially if you are just concerned about SERP’s. After about 20 quality links, I had a client site move from page 14 to page 1 of search results, and that is all that mattered.

Admin: Hi Kristi, I am not a big fan of PR I am a big fan of search results. I give away PR to get high search results from fresh content like you have provided. Great comment please do come back.
Unless it comes straight from Google then probably not. I think it is more important to get relevant link to your site instead of worrying about one make or break link.
