Unless it comes straight from Google then probably not. I think it is more important to get relevant link to your site instead of worrying about one make or break link.

I think that if you are shooting for high PR on your site, you will need relevant, high PR sites giving a DoFollow link back to you. And, if your link is not on the homepage, it's not the main site that needs the high PR, but the page on which your link appears must have the high PR.

If you are just looking for SERP's, which are more important than the PR, then most relevant, DoFollow links will count towards moving you up in the ranking for particular keywords. While high PR is nice, it is not necessary.

And overall, quality is better than quantity. Getting 10 relevant, dofollow, high PR links is better than 50 nofollow, bad neighborhood links. Especially if you are just concerned about SERP's. After about 20 quality links, I had a client site move from page 14 to page 1 of search results, and that is all that mattered.

Admin: Hi Kristi, I am not a big fan of PR I am a big fan of search results. I give away PR to get high search results from fresh content like you have provided. Great comment please do come back.

The link needs to be relevant for your site and have a good PR. I think you will get the most value out of the search engines this way.

Admin: John, have you ever acquired a high PR link without paying for it?

I think you need to worry about building up a ton of quality links to your site that are relevant to your site. This will get your father then searching for the perfect link.

Admin: Great comment but I think you missed the point here.
