Keeping Up With Page Rank
This is not a post that indicates some hidden truth or explanation about Page Rank. No, it is simply a post that indicates why I pay so little attention to it. Our site and blog had been sitting with a PR of 3 up until the most recent update. Then they both dropped down to a PR of 2. Both had seen steady increases in links so I was a bit perplexed, but it seemed to be part of a general trend. Many websites are experiencing PR down grades these days.
Then I noticed that our Tucson Small Business Networking Group site had a PR of 4. The site was just launched in May and Yahoo’s Site Explorer showed only 17 backlinks recorded. How could this be? Brand new sites are not supposed to have any PR. So how then did I end up with a PR of 4? This is beyond my understanding. Page rank is supposed to be a delayed report based on months old information.
Then today I discovered that the site and blog now have a PR of 3 and the networking site has experienced a downgrade to a PR 3. Could it be a fluke in the Page Rank? I don’t know. It is still this way days later and nothing has changed!

Got something to say?

That’s odd that they have a PR of four with only 17 back links, but haven’t you noticed that Google has been updating their PR more often? I think mine was updated like twice in the past two months, when I thought it was quarterly.
You state it a little in the article, and I think it is great that you have. It is very important that you do keep up steady with the page rank of your site and other sites that you are competing with. You don’t really have a lot of control over the site’s rank, but you can still make sure that the rank is where you want it.
I have found that a lot of new sites mostly business start off with a pretty high page rank. But i don’t know exactly why. I think that subject would be good to talk about.
This is some very good information, please keep me updated as much as possible.
Thanks for the information.

Hi,
For increasing page rank. Get more backlink. For this do blog submission, Directory submission, Bookmarking etc.
What a great post! Thanks.
Imagine what would happen if Google would just cancell the whole Page Rank concept (no other search engine has it..) It would change the internet completely!
.-= Sharon@forex´s last blog ..EUR/USD Resilient after Last Week’s Optimistic Data =-.
Google recently crawled for PR and backlinks in the first week of july and also in the month of june.
How does it calculate PR is really a very big question mark.Even our blog’s rank keeps on toggling between PR=3 to PR=0.
A site which has zero backlinks also has a PR.This may be due to the fact that they have good content.Even purely flash based sites have a PR.
Well when I check your link with my tools, I seen that your link and mine don’t have much different. But you already PR3. This is what I don’t understand.
