Link Exchanges Our Point OF View
There is a lot written about link exchanges and we are going to add our voice into the blogosphere on this topic. I encounter questions about link exchanging at business mixers all the time. Usually, they ask this, “Is it OK to swap links with other businesses in town?”
What I tell them is that we never exchange links directly with any other website locally or otherwise. We note that we will link to another site that has sent us a trackback. We usually accomplish this on our blog. We usually create a post that thanks a small group of blogs at one time. If the blog is an exceptionally good blog we will write and promote that specific blog. This is the only time that we ever exchange links and this is why.
Exchanging links works best for generating traffic but is not very useful for acquiring higher search rankings, which in most cases is the intended reason for exchanging links. The only way that your site will benefit is if the website exchange partner is in the same industry and your link partner sends you a “do follow” link from a page that has a higher PR than yours.
So we would consider this a basic waste of time. Any link exchange program will need to be monitored to make sure it is working. Your link partner just might change that link to “no follow” status at anytime. Another option is that they simply remove the link without ever providing you a notice. You will never know unless you monitor the situation.
This all requires a lot of time to properly manage even using a link management program. You could very easily be gaining trusted links from other sources such as forums or blogs that are not likely to be removed. Better yet, you could use this time to generate content on your website that is worth linking to and then promote it.
Now, if you do business with a trusted company and you want to provide them a link as a thank you, by all means you should do this. It is also important to remember that link exchange used for ranking purposes is a violation of the Google TOS.
What say you?

It’s hard to determine what the best Joomla templates are without knowing what type of website you are running. There is a large database of templates available on the market today and narrowing it down to just a few would be impossible to do.
Depending upon your needs, templates come in all styles, varieties, colors, and themes. Templates are available in both the back end and the front end sides to your websites. The back end templates are what will determine the layout and style of what you, the administrator or editor will see whenever you log into your website. They will help you to stay more organized so that you can get your business done with ease. Front end templates are what will determine the layout and style of the website that your visitor will see whenever they stop by your page. This will be the most important because this template will represent you or your company and if your page is boring, the total number of hits could fall. (Link Deleted)

That’s right we never exchange links directly with any website. We will link to a site that has sent us a trackback. Great content. It very useful points. Thanks for sharing this post.
I am amazed at how many people I see still trying to do “link exchanges” without knowing the dangers. Many forget this is a violation of the Google TOS yet they still continue this practice.
Guest blogging has exploded recently to get around some of these “requirements” … yet as you’ve indicated, many blog owners will go back and nofollow links because of their fear of being penalized because of Google!
Are you seeing this practice happening more and more?
Glad to read about this post. link exchange is the common way of most bloggers today to generate traffic without paying much thought of it. it is truly less valuable when it comes for for search ranking status, not to mention the irritating activities of spammers. thank you for specifying this concern.
