Hi Urban,

Great post! I love the idea of Scratch my back marketing. I find the best way to engage in leaving comments is to forget that I’m looking for backlinks entirely. Instead it’s best to remember that I’m engaging with another human being who’s going to receive the comment. So what sort of impression do I want to leave? Do I want to leave flippant or aggressive remark or something that’s going to add value to the person’s post and brighten their day? Really it’s a no brainer. It’s simply a matter of putting a bit of effort into the reply and taking the time to be considerate.

Thanks for posting!

This sounds great as I am about to add a blog to two of my websites, will this work with Wordpress blog in a Joomla site? I would like to have people comment and as you point out if they contribute something worthwhile I do not mind them backlinking from from site as long as they are not obviously self promoting. i think those comments put people off anyway, I never use them

This is a very informative post and the name of the marketing tool says exactly what it does.In another word, it means watch my back and I watch your back. I have read about this technique several times and I believe it works. As a matter of fact, some web traffic companies charge to get this done for you using a special software that automatically drops your website on different blog sites but you have to be carefull too,so your site won't tagged as a spam site.

Great reply... Keyword are not allowed here

This is a very informative post! Thanks for sharing this. Advertising is very critical to drive traffic to your website. Did you know that one of the most overlooked ways to drive traffic to your website is offline advertising. For example, I've had great luck with postcards, display ads, classified ads and recently radio advertising, which I am finding very interesting for driving qualified leads to my business.

I think this is a great concept where everyone wins. If you help someone out they are very likely to help you out and the links you both get will help both of you.

Its really very good and informative. . This same approach can also be applied to sites that offer No Follow links. However, these No Follow links will not assist you in achieving higher search ranking. thanks for sharing the great ideas...

According to me the idea behind scratch my back marketing is that the website user will exchange useful content and comments for useful Do Follow links. It is a simple matter of applying the concept of give and take. This same approach can also be applied to sites offering No Follow links. However, these No Follow links will certainly assist you to get higher page rankings in search engines. It may be also useful to generate more traffic to the website. This post makes a lot of sense regarding this unique way of marketing.

I may have the most non-spam-like username (hey I need to make money too), but I'm all for plugins like Scratch My Back. You're right about those "nice post" comments - they really do nothing for the blog in the long run and just make your website look messy and impersonal. Limiting comments may not do much for your page ranking, but search engines are not the end all be all of the internet. It is still the user, the human behind the computer, who ultimately makes money for you and builds your reputation.

Great comment, but using only keywords will not get you a link here.
