What was being offered here was a link exchange, or old hat SEO that no longer is effective. Plus I don't need any help getting on the first page. Yeah…I dont see what’s so great about pagerank unless you are selling links from your site? As far as I know pagerank does not affect your rankings and will people selling links these days Google will probably do away with it sooner than later.

I never bother about my page rank. What I bother about is traffic.
And thats a nice plugin :)

I do not bother to pass link juice to my commentors as long as they post an honest comment.

Link quantity is nothing compared to link quality :)

I have noticed some sites having 2k links that outrank some 200k link sites… However the 2k links page has more quality links, so that proves that a good link is very well worth, and i think its a good idea to do so and PR does count, however i would not be too obsessed with PR tho…

And of course rankings are most important :) that is why we search for good PR sites :)

All page rank really does is tell people that the site has some authority (meaning information from it is more LIKELY to be accurate)

But for SERPS, link quantity is what matters most.

Page Rank doesn’t matter if we are just focusing on sales, for good sales we should prefer a better ranking on Google because that’s the only way from where we can get good business!!!

Your post makes a lot of sense but I will warn you, prepare for an onslaught of spam. I did the ‘dofollow’ thing on a previous blog and over time was bombarded with spam. Akismet helps a lot if you get the API key but even that doesn’t capture all of the spammy comments and trackbacks.

it is good to know that the comments moved to a PR 0, and my focus has been on both SERP and PR, and trying to find a balance between the two. I have seen the same thing on my site where it is worth it exchanging PR for quality comments.

This seems a pity good idea.
I don’t think that Do Follow comments hurt your site, unless you are linking back to the spam or adult sites.
Page Rank has its place in certain areas but doesn’t mean anything if your site isn’t doing what it needs to do – bring you business.

I don’t think that DoFollow comments hurt your site, unless you are linking back to the spam or adult sites. I have been DoFollow for at least 3 PageRank updates, and I went from PR 0 to 2 to 4. The last two have held at PR 4, but that has more to do with some other SEO issues that I need to work on (valid code, meta descriptions, etc.).

Either way, it’s not PR that makes a blog, but the community that belongs to it. Some of the most popular blogs out there have lower PR, but a huge amount of traffic and comments.

If you have a site with numerous landing pages, especially if you’re in a niche market, chances are that they’ll all be fairly low in the PR.

Sounds like a nice idea. You will surely get some new readers, maybe even couple backlinks and all you do in return is just accept legit comments from readers. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Admin: Great comment but I only link to English language sites. That way I know what I linking to. It also benefits my readers as they don’t visit sites that they can not read. I hope that you understand.

I don’t pay any attention to Page Rank I think that it is way over blown. That’s why I willing give away link juice. I have pages that have no PR that rank # 1 for that targeted keyword phrase. I prefer to focus on the SERP’s.

They play a numbers game. Since there are millions are blogs that go unattended it is easy for them. We that care catch this stuff, I have seen spam appear on many active blogs as well.

I think the ones that slip through comes as trackbacks that look like the real thing. Yesterday, I was ready to give any OK to a comment when I noticed the same person pasted the same response into another comment. If that person hadn’t been greedy I would have allowed the first comment.

Admin: I write a post about leaving quality comments and the first commenter tries to spam me… and put in his own link… the comment was long but it didn’t say much… Wow, that’s disappointing! Here’s how it goes… You don’t get to insert extra links into comments. A website owner who leaves a useful comment gets one link… A blogger will get two if they have there RSS feed enabled.

Make the comment at least 20 words long and all is good. I would rather have fewer and better comments than a whole bunch of drive by comments! After all Do Follow anchor text links are much more valuable these days!
