How Much Is Your Website Worth?

From time to time I run into posts asking the question “How much is your website worth?” Occasionally, I check them out to see what they think this website is worth. Recently, I discovered another website offering this service. Since I have never used this website I thought I would give it a try.
It takes only a few seconds, just enter your websites url, click and wait for the results. I was a bit surprised to see that the site thought this one was worth $28,586. Then I started thinking about what factors are used to determine value. It was then that I realized that the results also showed page views (a mostly useless statistic) and how much income was generated through daily ad revenue.
The daily ad number struck me as rather odd, as we have no ads on this site. So this made me real skeptical of the methods used to determine the valuations expressed here. So while the estimate may not be considered very accurate due to false information, it was an interesting use of a few minutes. It also provided something to write about. What I found most amusing about this site is that the lead paragraph on the site touts that having accurate information is important when you are going to sell a site. Then it states that their information may not be accurate. Very interesting indeed!

That was a strange thing for “how much is my website worth” to point out regarding accuracy, then again they gave value to something not even on your site. A website like any other business is only worth what the numbers on a profit and loss statement say.
This is a good rainy daydream kind of day,to boost our ego’s that are sites are worth x amount of dollars website to visit. I always enjoy a good fantasy. Thanks for the diversion.
I also have used these sites from time to time. I could never figure out how they came to the conclusions that they did, but it was still interesting to check from an ego stand point.
Good way to waste some time. Don’t have much confidence in sites like that one. To each his own.
I was wasting some time so I hopped over to what’s my website worth to find out the value.My website is worth $24,921 with a daily ad revenue of 8.93. I also have no ads on my site so HA HA! Glad the misinformation was free.
You should also consider http://www.websitefact.com ; they provide a nice summary of the website performance. I find their WF rank being more accurate than Alexa.
Admin: John, thanks for the heads up. I checked it out and didn’t find it all that useful. It produced a lot of inaccurate information about our site, but it gives me something to write about. Thanks.
