How Much Is Your Website Worth?
From time to time I run into posts asking the question “How much is your website worth?” Occasionally, I check them out to see what they think this website is worth. Recently, I discovered another website offering this service. Since I have never used this website I thought I would give it a try.
It takes only a few seconds, just enter your websites url, click and wait for the results. I was a bit surprised to see that the site thought this one was worth $28,586. Then I started thinking about what factors are used to determine value. It was then that I realized that the results also showed page views (a mostly useless statistic) and how much income was generated through daily ad revenue.
The daily ad number struck me as rather odd, as we have no ads on this site. So this made me real skeptical of the methods used to determine the valuations expressed here. So while the estimate may not be considered very accurate due to false information, it was an interesting use of a few minutes. It also provided something to write about. What I found most amusing about this site is that the lead paragraph on the site touts that having accurate information is important when you are going to sell a site. Then it states that their information may not be accurate. Very interesting indeed!
