Website 101 – Get Your Website Indexed Early
March 10, 2011
Welcome to the Google Places SEO blog at Tucson SEO Solutions.
Don’t Worry About Getting Your Website Indexed Early
This is one of the best pieces of advice I could ever offer to someone who is in the early stages of building a website. Do not wait until your site has been constructed and launched to start developing a link building program. Start the process now.
That’s right, most successful websites have a well structured link building program that they implement on a regular basis. What I am suggesting is that you start your link building efforts early, as in the very beginning.
Once you have established your domain name you need to point it to you name servers. Then put up an under construction page, but not just a generic page. This page should include the page title and description that will be used on the home page. You will then create an H-1 tagged header that features your primary keyword phrase. You might even throw in an image or a logo that uses your primary keyword phrase in the ALT Tag.
Now, you will need to write a paragraph or two explaining that you are open for business, what that business provides (keywords here), and that you are under construction. Make sure that you also include your targeted keyword phrase and contact information.
Now, start building links. It doesn’t really matter where you develop your links because this will likely be a learning curve for you. Try, a wide variety of options to see what suits you best. A good place to start would be social bookmarking sites, but with no content that’s a weak option. You simply want to begin the indexing process as soon as possible. Think of this page as a temporary home page.
The big benefit here is that your site will already be indexed by Google by the time it is launched and hopefully many times over. The secondary benefit is that you will have a fine tuned linking program in place. You really don’t want to be putting a linking program in place while you are trying to manage a new website and run your business. Get started early and plan to succeed.

This is excellent advice. It can take ages to build a site. You think it will be a couple of months and before you know it 6 months have passed. 6 months of link building could have a site doing really well. So great advice I have other projects that I will do this for!!! Really appreciate you saying this because it has clarified things in my mind…
Admin: Steve, I have done this many times and it worked every time.
Hi,
How much does site maturity impact SEO? Should I make an “under construction” page and register my site with search engines before it’s up and running for SEO purposes?
Admin: We do not link to one post blogs!
Very informative. Usually website owners overlooked this one. They don’t do link building until the website is ready. I wish all website owners will consider link building 6 months to see the results.
This is an incredible tip. Seems to be an easy way to get indexed quickly. I believe this would be highly helpful for large e-commerce websites. All together this linking strategy is a win win situation for the webmaster as well as the link building service provider.
This is a nice piece of advice. I have always thought search engines would not index sites under construction. I will put this advice into practice hence fort. Link building is not a tea party and I really agree that the process should start early.
I agree with jan. I have been doing SEO for years and understood the importance of backlinks way before most people. I also had a network of sites i could use so it made it helpful.
